How to Hire Service Providers
How to Hire Service Providers
Once you have autism funding, you need to find and hire qualified service providers. Here's how to approach this important step.
Step 1: Understand Your Child's Needs
Before hiring, consider:
- What areas does your child need the most support in?
- What are your priorities (communication, behaviour, daily skills)?
- Does your child need in-person or telehealth services?
- What is your location and travel capacity?
Step 2: Find Providers
Use these methods to find providers:
- Use our Provider Directory on this website
- Contact AutismBC for referrals
- Ask other parents in support groups
- Check with your child's school or pediatrician
- Contact your local Child Development Centre
Step 3: Interview Providers
Ask potential providers:
- What is your experience with autism?
- What qualifications and certifications do you hold?
- What is your approach to intervention?
- Do you accept autism funding?
- What are your rates?
- What does a typical session look like?
- How do you involve parents in the process?
- Can you provide references?
Step 4: Set Up a Service Agreement
Once you choose a provider:
- Create a written service agreement
- Outline session frequency and duration
- Agree on rates and payment terms
- Establish goals and review timelines
- Discuss cancellation policies
Step 5: Submit Invoices for Reimbursement
With direct funding:
